WALL-E
Thursday 15th January
Director: Andrew Stanton, U, 2008
What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to turn the last robot off?
In a distant, but not so unrealistic future, where mankind has abandoned earth because it has become covered with trash , WALL-E, a garbage collecting robot has been left to clean up the mess. Mesmerized with trinkets of earth's history and show tunes, WALL-E is alone on Earth except for a sprightly pet cockroach. But WALL-E's life changes forever when a space probe lands and discharges EVE (an Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Evaluator), sent to Earth to scout for any signs of life.
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Thursday 29th January
Director: Julian Schnabel, 12A, 2007
The film tells the remarkable tale of Jean-Dominique Bauby (Mathieu Amalric), the world-renowned editor of French ELLE magazine, who suffered a stroke and was paralyzed by the inexplicable "locked in" syndrome at the age of 43. Bauby's only way of communicating with the outside world was by blinking with one eye, and after several dedicated helpers aided him to speak through this seemingly irrelevant gesture, he began to produce the words that would form his memoir.
Juno
Thursday 12th March
Director: Jason Reitman, 15, 2007
A tale told over four seasons, starting in autumn when Juno, a high-school junior, discovers she's pregnant after one event with her best friend, Bleeker. In the waiting room of an abortion clinic, the quirky and whip-sharp Juno decides to give birth and to place the child with an adoptive couple. Will Juno's plan work, can she improvise, and what about Bleeker?
All About My Mother
Thursday 26th February
Director: Pedro Almodóvar, 15, 1999
Distraught over the death of her teenage son, Manuela (Cecilia Roth) drives to Barcelona to find the boy's father, an itinerant transsexual named Lola (Toni Canto). While combing the city's less reputable districts, she also meets up with Agrado (Antonia San Juan), a sassy transvestite prostitute, and Rosa (Penélope Cruz), a pregnant nun on her way to El Salvador. She also becomes the manager for actress Huma (Marisa Paredes). Considered to be one of Almodóvar's most fully realized works, this charming and unique film blends his earlier gender-bending irreverence with the mature grace and compassion of his later work, striking a perfect note of humor and pathos.

Jesus of Montreal
Thursday 26th March
Director: Denys Arcand, 18, 1989
When attendance at a church's annual Passion Play flags, a troupe of young actors is hired to stage a newer interpretation of the teachings of Jesus. While their newer, more modern version brings the house down, it also brings down the condemnation of church hierarchy, creating a strange parallel between the actors--now persecuted believers--and the authorities.
